May Red Tent -
Woven Differently, Woven Divine; The Tapestry of Neurodiversity
Saturday, May 17th
9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Natural variations within the nervous system determine how we experience our senses, learn, and interact with the world. We will explore together the many neurodivergences we are just beginning to understand; their gifts, sensitivities, and the ways they can enhance spirituality, relationships, and finding our own unique expression of Oneness.
- Learn about notable people whose neurodivergence has advanced society in myriad ways.
- Through journaling and small group discussion, we will share personal stories of challenges and gifts of neurodiversity.
- We will learn practices that calm and soothe the vagus nerve.
- Together, we will weave a nature-based work of art representing the many branches of neurodiversity.
As a mother of children with unique neurological experiences and expressions, and having worked with many individuals navigating the challenges neurodivergence poses in a sometimes inhospitable world, Christina will educate us and invite us into conversation about what it is like to see, hear, taste, feel, learn, work, and navigate the world with unique neurological experiences and expressions. Better understood today than in the past, many outstanding creatives, scientists, inventors, and everyday folks are revealing that they are "on the spectrum," live with ADHD, Dyslexia, and other types of neurodiversity. Our nervous systems are overstimulated and bombarded with challenging environments. Together we will learn techniques to calm and nurture ourselves, developing tools that can help anyone manage the stresses of modern life. A loving, supportive community is essential for all of us. Learning about how and why we respond to common experiences in such individual ways can help us all embrace one another with genuine understanding.
