Celebrating the Season for Peace & Nonviolence

Starting Sunday, February 2nd, we will be introducing the Season For Peace & Nonviolence in the Children’s Garden which we will be celebrating over the next 10 weeks!
The annual 64 day campaign was co-founded by Dr. Arun Gandhi and The Association for Global New Thought (AGNT). The Season For Peace & Nonviolence is celebrated January 30th – April 4th, the beginning and ending dates are marked by the memorial anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. AGNT states,
“The purpose of the campaign is to focus educational and media attention on the philosophy of attaining peace through nonviolent action…” Each week we will learn about a different peace hero through a book, video, or special guest.
There are some really powerful resources to support this season that can be found online such as “64 Daily Practices for Children”. Each day, there is a different word with an action to take for that day. It’s a great opportunity to watch your child feel empowered to promote peace in the world through guided actions. Spending time partaking in these exercises each day can spark some really meaningful family connection/conversation and elevate peace consciousness in the world.
The “Living Peace Mandala” has a practice practice for adults as well.
